Kicking off my website

I am entering a new phase in my career. Over the summer I wrote a grant proposal that was recommended for funding by the Legislative Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) which, if approved by the Minnesota legislature, will build upon some of my dissertation research to investigate the social interactions between coyotes in the St. Paul area. This is the first large grant that I have received as a lead PI, and it would fund research for three years starting in July, 2027.

What I’m up to now

This past year as a Minnesotan has been full of distractions. I won’t go into details, but if you casually read through local headlines in 2026 I think you could probably guess. This has had a serious negative impact on my ability to publish my dissertation work, though I have been gaining traction and momentum over the past few months. I am hopeful to submit one or more manuscripts before the end of the year.

I am continuing to work at the University in the meantime on a project estimating deer density across Elm Creek Park Reserve in the northwest metro. As I work on this, I am also making preparations for the ambitious project that I proposed to the LCCMR, which will take some serious work for us to hit the ground running. I hope to give updates on all of this work, publications and more on this blog. I’ll keep you posted!
